Yeah we have had a couple of really warm days. It's nice, I think spring might really come. The weather also changes and drops down though. We've had a lot of rain lately, so that's interesting. Actually on Friday my comp and I busted out our bikes and biked that day. It was really nice, but I forgot what it was like to have a seat in between your legs!! I hope you like the hat though, I thought it was awesome. What did you think of those pictures I got of the city at night. It looks like something out of a movie or something.
So in this area there is a family that are members from Liberia, Africa. We've had African food a few times at there house, some is good some is interesting. Once time there was Chicken feet in this sauce that you put over rice. We've also had this stuff called foo-foo, which is like mashed potatoes or malt-o-meal that has been left in your bowl for about 5 hours. It's a cultural experience. Some of the African food I really love though!!
Here's a cool scripture about warning others about danger. It has to do with sharing the gospel with others. I don't know if you have heard this one though. Ezekiel 3:17-19 and then go to Ezekiel 33:1-12. These paint a pretty cool picture for you.
Thanks for writing dad, I love hearing from you. During those cold nights out tracting, anytime I would smell wood burning or a fire going, I would think of times camping, and scouts. Then I would start to tell my companion about those times and dream about a great camping trip.
Love ya tons,
Your Eldest Son
Thank you so much for writing bro. I've seen a bunch of guys getting out and starting to practice soccer here too. I am way excited to hear if you finish the BOM. You think you're a gangster, not even!!! These guys out hear are for real. It's intense. Do you know what a Blue light district is, yeah we have some of those here. Have dad tell you what that means. Being an only child, Think about it you won't have anyone to bug you. You used to always complain about that. Does Josh still tease you or give you a hard time. Oh and you'll have Jack to keep you company. Better yet you'll have more time to read your scriptures. I love you little bro. Talk to ya next week Alma 38:15
Elder Adams
Hi sorry I was writing everybody really quik. We went to the temple today, so we are rushed for time.
I'm sorry I'm sorry, I'm on we can chat. We had an awesome zone conference yesterday, and we have interviews with President tomorrow.
So yesterday at Zone conference President announced who the new mission President will be starting July 1. It is President Doll from Concord, California. He's an accountant. He also told us that because of the baby boomers that the number of missionaries entering the mission field has decreased world wide. Therefore missions are downsizing. Ours is set to downsize from 122 missionaries to 80!!! It will begin to taper down starting in June and will reach the 80 in about September or October. It's Pretty intense, they are going to be combining a lot of areas. I'm going to be writing my letter to you in pieces, so you'll have to piece it together to put in the little book you have. This way I can still check if you've written back.
So at zone conference we have these 5 minute talks that we are told about before and everybody prepares a talk on a given topic and then on the spot president selects three people to give them. I've never had to give one, but yesterday he called me to be the first to speak. I got up and delivered my talk, and got some good positive feedback as they pass the microphone around to critique me. (They do a little critique after you speak). They say the good and the things you can improve on. I went over the time limit by 30 seconds. I also ended up just reading the things that I had written, with very little deviation. Then after the critiqueing, president asked to see my notes. I took them up to the pulpit and then he told me to write on one of the pages of my notebook "Faith in Jesus Christ". Then he asked my companion to pass forward my scriptures. He then said to bring just your scriptures up to the pulpit and give another talk on Faith in Jesus Christ. I went up and delivered another talk. The feeling I had during the talk was completely different. I could feel the spirit, it was just completely different. I spoke for 2 min and 30 sec. I was in the time limit. The feedback from this talk was great. I got so many compliments from people in the office and other missionaries. I was the first person that President had ever done this to before, I'd never seen him do this to anyone. Then he did the same thing to a sister missionary after me, but she had her notebook with her, and she got to pick a Christlike attribute to speak on. It was a great teaching experience, and I learned a lot. The Lord will give you the words to speak. People really liked my talk. The Zone leaders liked both of my talks too. I have a great mission president!!!!
Anyway the weather is starting to warm up. My comp and I biked on friday, I forgot what it's like to have a seat between your legs. It was nice to bike around though. We have had a lot of rain, and we still have some cold days though.
So here's your scripture D&C 58:4, I came across this in the temple today. Love ya tons mom.
Love your first son, Elder Adams
PS- IS it better to buy bars of soap or body wash. I bought three bars for 2.27 and a 12 oz bottle of body wash for a $1. Which is better, which lasts longer. I have a body sponge also to use.
I'm glad to hear that your talk went well. I didn't know if you liked what I had written up. I wish I could have heard your speak. I've never heard you speak or bear your testimony. I love you so much mom. I think this myth about spring might actually come true!!! How great would that be. Next p-day we are going downtown the day after st patty's day, so we will hopefully be able to see the Chicago river that runs all through downtown dyed GREEN. I've hear that they do that!!!!
