T-Bone you crazy. You fin ta die from rabies now. That's just a little of the African American slang I've learned. You should try throughing that in every once in a while- fin ta, or fin da be, or fo you go. (before you go). See you just shorten and slur. I know it'll take practice. That's and intense story though. "Are we safe though", Hows school been, and when is your fall break. How do you like writing a paper almost every day. Anyway the Scriptures are pretty much amazing. I wish I could show you all the stuff I'm learning, You learn so much on your mission. You should see my scriptures. I finished the book of mormon and started it again, and I'm also reading the New Testament. Then as a companionship we are reading the Pearl of Great Price. Well I love you tons t-bone, and one day we will rejoice together, not only in this life but in the Kingdom of our Father. Peace.
FATHER, your own words are awesome to hear. You do exist. I'm just kidding, but seriously it's good to hear from you. Yeah I love my little gps. I need to set my pace though. Because I have a pretty good idea of the pace that I run at and I think it's distance calculation base on the time I run is a little off. My comp has stopped running with me last week and so it's back to running back and forth in front of our apartment. We are preparing for a coupld baptisms here in the next couple weeks hopefully. They are really close, they just have to live the word of wisdom. We got them on this cool quit smoking progam where they have to drink grapefruit juice, take vitamin c, use cinnamon mouthwas and toothpaste. This 12 or 13 year old girl wants to get baptised and her mom will let her but her ex husband won't. He says if she gets baptised he's pulling all of the funding for her to play hockey and other sports. The mom doesn't have the money. When we were talking to her and telling her to pray about whatever decision she decides to make, she was just crying. You could tell it was tough for her. The dad is really stubborn, I guess. She has decided that she wants to play hockey though, and hopefully his heart will be softened. Anyway love you tons pops, and good news the weather warmed up again out here the last couple days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I want pictures of your day at the big game. I had totally forgotten that they were building that. Maybe I don't want pictures, it'll just make me think about soccer and the cool stadium. Anyway have fun. I'm glad that you liked the cubs hat. They won the division title you know. One of our investigators actually prayed in class and thanked God for letting the cubs win. Yeah we love him though, he's a character. What did you think of the pictures I sent you. I love you tons little bro. keep up the good work and don't get discouraged with school. You say your prayers every night and put your faith in the lord and he will help you. Read Ether 12:27, for strength and to help you understand. Love ya.
Yeah, The weather has warmed back up this past week, so maybe I'll go coat shopping a p-day at the end of october first of november. We've been biking a ton, but the leaves are still turning and falling like crazy. It's like and hour glass, and the sand is falling fast, counting down to the day of my suffering. I fear winter, more than death itself, because I won't die I'll just suffer. Anyway how are you going to have your pictures taken all bruised up. The robbery was like a day or two after I got my new comp and he had just went shopping to stock his cupboard. We had one of our investigators, in his prayer in gospel principles, thank God that the cubs won the division title.
That's awesome that you went to the temple. That is a house of learning and a place where the Lord dwells. I have a sweet set of scriptures for you to read. The first is Isiah 43:1-2,4-5. This talks all about how we are the Lord's and we need not fear. That the Lord is with us through everything. The Lord says: "Fear not: for I am with thee." This is the power of the Lord's promised companionship and love. Second Jeremiah 29:11-14. Here we learn the Lord wants to bless and only has the best intentions for us. He does not want us to be hurt or to feel pain or sorrow. Sometimes those things just happen, or they happen because people excercise their agency unrighteously and it effects us. The Lord can't take away anothers agency. We also learn the end of our trials will come, he hears our prayers and he will find us. It's an awesome scripture. Lastly 1 Nephi 21:16. - The lord cannot forget us because we are literally engraven on the palms of his hands. He bears the marks of suffering for you and I. You think about how much you use your hands and how much you see them everyday. The Lord is reminded of us, of me, of you, every day as he goes about blessing our lives. He loves us and he died for us. The power of the Atonement is real, and he lives. Repentence is real and truly can occur through him. I love him so much. I love you mom. I look forward to hearing from you.

Hey bro. How's mission prep going. How's work going. Managing money out here is deffinately a pain. Are you still buying a million backpacks and jackets. Oh and speaking of jackets I might need to get a waterproof one, as it rains like no other lately. How are your classes going. The squirrels here are going insane lately. A month ago they would chuck acorns at me while I ran, and pelt our neighbors car. Now they're panicking because they know winter is coming, and they are scrambling for food. There are tons of them smashed in the streets. They're ridiculous they are running out in the streets with total disregard for cars. It's pretty gorey to see some of these dead gotesque little things. Anyway, It's about time you wrote me hoser.
That's tight. aren't you glad that you tried out now. I'm online right now. I think I'd like a black shell basically. Probably like the ones that you have. That way when I get my big coate I can put it under and layer myself. Do you think that would be a good idea. How are you and the bike. Wait till you see the pictures I send you of me on some tight bikes.
Well I'm just thinking so that I can use the shell right now over the top of my sweaters when it's not extremely cold right now, just raining a lot. Are you at school right now.
Awesome, just sitting here doing laundry and email. We're going to go on a bike ride down by the river today. Then we've got dinner at the Craves.
I don't think you need to send me a coat. I wrote josh to see if he can get me a cheap shell like one of the ones that he has. I bought that hoodie a wal-mart. And some missionary before left this way nice wool long one that was made in the Czech Republic. It's huge though, but maybe I can have some tayloring or alterations made. It's a nice one. One of these p-days we'll go down to Rockford and hit up the Burlington coat factory or one of the Men's Warehouses or the Mall. We'll go coat shopping.
Right. The lady that bought me the nice 3 piece suit. Where we do our laundry and email. Pretty much the most amazing family in the history of missionaries.
Oh you didn't get that email???? We were dontown in rockford to pick up the kids with her on p-day and we went into this shop. I was looking a some suits and I found some cool ones. I went in the back and tried one on and I liked it. it was 80 or 85 bucks brand new and I thought, oh I need a brown one to wear with my shoes I think I'll get it. I went back to change into my clothes and when I came back she had paid for it!!! This suit is nice, it is fitted like it was made for me. It's a way nice three piece. I have some pictures of me in it. I have gotten a lot of compliments from people. I gotta go outside for a second though ok.
Yeah it was a letter for you to read to the young women of the ward or to give it to their leaders. I'll have to rewrite it another day. I'll hear from ya later. Look for me in the afternoon next wednesday.
That's intense. I hope everything is ok. I want to see some pictures of this. My foot is doing better, not totally recovered though. I quit wearing that boot, I think it was making it worse. I bought some arch supports at Wal-mart to take the pressure off of the ball of my foot and my arch. That has helped a lot. Sis. Crave bought my comp some new shirts because she says they need help. It's true they are a little faded and darker. This week has been good. My comp is still amazing as usual. He said something really nice to me the other day as we were talking about companions and who would be good with who. We talked about what we like companions to be like. I said I wanted one that would push me and challenge me. Elder McCleery said, " I'll be honest with ya, Elder Adams, I don't think you're going to get someone who can push you, because you're so driven. I mean you're like at the top." It made me feel good, that he saw me as a hard working missionary. It helps to hear that every once in a while. At the same time it's humbling, because I have a standard to fulfill.
We had exchanges this week also, since my comp is the district leader again. I was cleared to drive, so I stayed in Beloit and I got to drive. It felt really weird and awkward. I'm sending you some pictures from the past two baptisms and a bunch of other stuff. Be sure and let me know when you get it. We have gotten a lot of rain lately, and it is deffinately cooling off. I've worn both of my sweaters (Which are amazing). That coat however is huge, and could serve as a pavilion for an oger. I know the city of beloit REALLY well, it's just getting to dinner appointments and Rockford that is a little tought. We use the map though. It's slower, but I'm not sure if I'm ready to bust down and buy a GPS. I really do hope that you and Spencer are ok though. I finished reading the BOM that I started towards the end of my first transfer. I read it using that paper you gave me, about the savior. I started reading the BOM again and I'm reading the New Testament. The scriptures are amazing. I wish I could show you all of the cool stuff I've found and written in my scriptures. I love you tons mom, and Family. Keep me posted.
I don't know if I told you this but WE GOT ROBBED. That's right. We came home for luch and our garbage can was in front of our door. I thought it was just the hippie lady that shares the house. We went in and as my comp went to make his spaghetti, his cupboard was empty. I had been in the restroom and told him to quit messing around. We both looked everywhere, in the oven, upstairs, in the other cupboards. Nothing, someone had cleaned out just his cupboard. We found out that we had left our door unlocked and that they had also taken our coveted massage pad that we have on our recliner. We make sure we lock up now. Then when we came back later that day, our door was unlocked again, and the door was adjar!!! I could hear someone in there. Then I went in and it was just the ward members that inspect our apartment every transfer. We interrogated them as to where Elder McCleery's newly purchased load of food had gone. They had no idea. They're an elderly couple so it wasn't them. Our ward mission leaders wife loaded him up though at Sunday dinner. So let that be a lesson to you. When you leave on the edge of the "Hood" don't leave your door unlocked. Love ya dad

Dude, you're almost 14. We're working with a family, that the mom just got baptised, and the daughter who's in 8th grade and dad are going to get baptised also. I'm sending pictures of the family. The mom got baptised 2 weeks ago. So I'm working on your birthday present, so don't think I forgot you ok reef. I have moms but I want to send them both. You gotta remember, I'm in Beloit now and not the city, so I don't have all of these cool shops and stores to go to. You'll love it when you get it though. You're awesome dude, and happy birthday. I hope you are having fun and working hard in school. Thanks for bearing your testimony to me. You're a good kid, and I love ya tons.
Keep trying in keyboarding. I know she's a crazy lady. One time I put contact solution in my eyes in her class to make it look like I was crying. I pretended to be frustrated. I loved to mess with her. One time she asked me if I should be on medication. It was hilarious. You just have to deal with her though. Sounds like you're a ladies man too.I loved your testimony, it was simple but contained power and authority within the truthfulness of the doctrine you testified of. You could come out and be my companion any day and I'd take ya. Your testimony could bring many souls unto Christ. It's so good to know that you look up to me bro. that gives me added courage to do what is right. Always remember spencer that you are one of our father in heavens sons, Jesus Christ is our brother that we look to. Remember you hold the Aaronic priesthood and are a heir to his throne. You have duties and responsibilities in holding this priesthood. Always ensure that your life is in harmony with gospel so that you are always worthy to exercise that authority. Your Savior Jesus Christ loves you very much, you can always repent, he bled from every pore so that we could return to live with him. Greater love hath no man. Don't ever let any drop of his precious blood fall unnoticed. The atonement is there for us to use and apply in our lives. The Savior is there for you, he is conscious of your every need, your every pain, he wants to put his arm around you and be with you. Be an example to those around you. You have something that people in this world need and want. It is a precious gift from our heavenly father. You and I were truly blessed to be born in this dispensation and into this church. I am out here to invite others and to share this blessing with people. That is why I am here, to open the gates of heaven and let our brothers and sisters in. This Church, of which we are members is true, Joseph Smith is a Prophet, and the Book of Mormon is true. I have seen the gospel change the lives of people. I have seen what happiness it brings, and it brings me joy to see them happy. This Church is true and living. As it lives in the lives of members and as it grows in the lives of those I teach. I love this work, Gods work, I love being a missionary, I love the Savior, and I love you. I bear you this humble and solemn testimony in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, Amen.
So I love this Blog idea, and then making it into a book. It sounds cool, and it sounds like everyone is having a lot of fun. So I'm still in Beloit. The new companion, Elder McCleery is awesome. He's from Bountiful, and he's 6'-4." Deffinately a good one to have with me when we are down in the rougher areas. He really is great though. He runs with me in the morning, he's obedient, hardworking, and he's hilarious. The work will surge forth with this new change. I can't say enough good things about this one. Potentially a favorite. We were teaching a bunch of girls on their porch in the "hood" and they said that he looked like Napolean Dynamite. He is tall and lurpy, but I love him!! The spirit is with us, and we teach well, with power and authority. We are like Alma and Amulek together. This companionship was ordained before the world was!!!
The baptism went ok. So as I said she asked me to perform it. I told Donya before we went to the font how the baptism would go, how to hold her hands etc. I went down into the font and greeted her. After I said the prayer I went baptise her and as she was going down she panicked and popped back before she had even touched the water. She's a bigger black lady, and so this posed a small problem. She looked terrified. She hadn't said anything about being afraid of the water, in fact she was excited for her baptism. I tried a few more times after trying to calm her and comfort her. However every time the same thing happened. Here I was standing in the water with Donya, who was obviously in worried, and 30+ people staring at me in the font. I was dying, I had tried talking to her, I had no idea what to do. Then this man from the High council came and knelt by the font and spoke quietly to Donya and I. He instructed us that we did not have to do it traditionally, but that she could sit or knee down and then lay back the rest of the way. I waited a moment for her to calm down, for peace to enter, and then I said the prayer again, and then slowly I helped her as she knelt down and layed back. She plugged her nose and as she went back she began to float. I pushed her down just as her feet rose. She came back up and looked great!!! I looked to the witnesses and received the ok. Wow, that was a little nerve wracking. I was so worried that her baptismal experience had not gone well. However as I went to change my new comp came in and assured me that all was well. I had forgotten a towel though and so I had to use paper towels. Other people said that it went well also, and one of the members said that I had handled it very well. That I was tender in helping her. That's what I was hoping for. I definately want to prepare those being baptised more. I felt comforted that she did have a great experience, and that it was a day that she will remember. She did have a good experience after all.
I'm sending pictures home of the two baptisms and of life here in Beloit. I have your B-day present, but I'm waiting until I get spencer's so I'm waiting. I want to wish you a happy birthday though mom, and I love you a lot. One night we got to talking with a member family about our families and moms. I realize how much you did for me, and it was all for me. You did everything! I ended up sharing with them that night the scripture about the 2000 stripling warriors and how their mothers had taught them. I like to think that I am one of God's soldiers now, in the army of Helamen. I am a stripling warrior, and I have a mother that taught me in my youth. I have a mother that raised me up, and now I am in the service of God and my fellow men. Here in the war against satan. I love you mom, thank you for all that you do.
Love you tons Elder Adams
Oh and the colors are starting to change. It is getting cold in the morning when I run. It has rained a lot and been cold. I used the heater in the car for the first time, saw my breath, and I have worn both of my sweaters. I think I'm done with short sleeves. The days are deffinately getting colder. I am terrified that winter is coming. I think it's time to think about a coat. Luckily I had bought a cheap hoodie at wal-mart the other day that I used. My comp and I have been doing a lot of biking lately to save some miles. We even biked on this day that it rained from before we woke up to when we went to bed. We only biked part of that day and got soaked out tracting, but the Lord blessed us and we found an awesome investigator. I also got a flat tire the other day, so that's what the debit card charge is. I had to buy a new tube and patch kit. I basically outfitted myself so I'll never get stranded with a flat again!! I'm also thinking about buying a gps, we got lost going to Rockford. I basically have to show my comp where to go since I've been here in the area. Anyway the coat and gps could probably be potential birthday ideas, because I'm surviving with finding my way around. I just think if I didn't have to waste time with a map I could be more effective and get to places faster. Anyway that's The Happenings, love ya tons.

Never too late

WHO COULD NOT LET THIS SMILE IN THEIR DOOR
Devin just had his second transfer, but stayed in Beloit. The new Comp is awesome reminds him of his first day in Chicago. Aug. 30 he had another baptzism and has one this weekend also. I am very green to this, so have fun with my stupidity while I learn.

Thats tight dude keep up the good work and keep writing. Sorry no time today.
Got the package. It's cool, thank you so much, it's one of those things that shows you love me, but I really don't need the sweets porfavor. It's more the thought that counts for me. I love you so much mom. I found out Bill the guy we baptised is going to be a ward missionary now. How cool is that!!! It's cool to see these new converts take off.
Yeah I had an x ray. Sorry no time to write today. Might have to have a bone scan. The old comp got transfered out, and I got a new one!!!! Elder McCleary. He's awesome. I'm so excited I feel like it's my first day in the mission again this is going to be a great transfer. I'll tell you more next week. Keep writing. Baptism went great also. We are having another one this sunday for Donya vance a black lady. She asked me to do the baptism!!!! It'll be cool, so that's this sunday. Love you tons, no time today Bye.
